Winston W Hacking | 2026 | Canada | 2 min
An experimental film investigating a new form of surface transformation through folding and collage. Concealed narratives begin to unfold through a relatively simple process. The film literally unpacks meaning where each crease reveals an image complexity that was hidden beneath the seemingly flat surface. Original score by electroacoustic and musique concrète composer Andrew Zukerman.
Winston Hacking is an award winning filmmaker and artist who is best known for his collaborations with Flying Lotus, Run the Jewels, Animal Collective and Andy Shauf. His passion lies in conjuring up hybrid works that are equal parts contemporary collage and early cinematic illusion. Capturing anomalies and combining analogue and digital techniques, his explorative work has garnered millions of views online and has been featured by The New York Times, Juxtapoz and Vogue.
未命名菲林消毒怬划 [Untitled Film Disinfection Project I]
October 15–25 | dusk–Midnight
Installation @ Deluge (transom window)
Lilan Yang | 2025 | China/USA | 3 min
“Censorship is the mother of metaphor.” Guided by state disinfection protocols, this 16mm structural film applies chlorine to imageless celluloid—transforming the chemical “sanitization” of film into a physical enactment of censorship, memory erasure and artistic resistance in response to China’s zero-COVID era.
Lilan Yang is an artist working with moving images across installation, film, photography and performance. Rooted in the materiality of 16mm, their practice explores the flux of migration, the decay of memory and the intricacies of perception.
Millstone
October 15–25 | 24hrs
Installation @ Millie’s Lane (window gallery)
Bocheng Zhang | 2024 | China | 5 min
Millstone takes its cue from the workers’ steady, exact grinding—motion as endurance. Projection, workshop tools and mirrors made during the Cultural Revolution assemble into a site-responsive “vision machine” that settles inside the workshop and learns its rhythm. The objects collaborate, but they also scrape and strain against one another, marking the space with traces—of desire, of longing. Out of this labouring friction, a live-captured interactive image is projected back into the room, calling up a spectre of shared memory.
Bocheng Zhang is a filmmaker from Tianjin, China. He received his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is currently pursuing an MFA in Film at the University of Colorado Boulder. Zhang traces the faint seam between bodily pain and repressed history. He lingers on microscopic sites—small surfaces, residues and fragments—looking for where the body has pressed into the world and where the world presses back. Across digital video, analog film and found objects, he constructs site-responsive “vision machines”: apparatuses that live with a place and learn its rhythms. Ordinary materials gather, shift and bind into unlikely constellations, carrying the afterimage of touch, desire and longing.
Of Swallows

Kelly Egan | 2025 | Canada | 3 min
A swallow’s eye is longer than other birds. Their visual acuity is said to resemble Raptors. For sailors, swallows are a good omen signifying a close shore. My father loved birds. Since his passing I've felt afloat. Lost and unanchored. At sea in overwhelming emotions. I close my eyes and look for swallows, as metaphorical groundings.
Kelly Egan is an associate professor in Cultural Studies and Media Studies at Trent University whose work focuses on materiality and obsolescence, looking beyond hierarchical canonical and linear histories to probe new potentials for dead media.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts (2001) in Mass Communication from Carleton University, Master of Fine Arts (2006) in Film/Video from Bard College (2006), Certificate in Film Preservation from Selznick School of Film Preservation at George Eastman Museum (2012) and MA (2003) and PhD (2013) in Communication and Culture from York/Ryerson Joint Graduate Programme in Communication and Culture.
